About ME

My Story

My journey as a learning developer started in graduate school when I was a teaching assistant for English literature & composition courses. After graduating and teaching Writing as a college adjunct instructor at two state universities -- San Diego State & Washington State -- and at a multitude of community colleges in Southern California & the PNW, I discovered the field of instructional design, and the rest, is history.

As an instructional designer, I bring the perspective of a teacher to create online content with a purpose to learn. Making people feel enlightened, confident, and valued makes me absolutely love the job that I do.

the learning has not stopped

As a complete advocate for learning, my own learning process never stops. I get to combine the best of both worlds -- learning & literature -- as an instructional designer. Some books that have shaped my understanding and perspective toward my work are:

  • Design for how People Learn by Julie Dirksen

  • Map It: The Hands-on Guide to Strategic Training Design by Cathy Moore

  • Job Aids and Performance Support: Moving From Knowledge in the Classroom to Knowledge Everywhere by Allison Rossett and Lisa Schafer

I also am a member of the IDOL courses academy where I continue my learning in the field & stay engaged within the social community of my fellow instructional designers.
